Split PDF

Need just two pages from a long PDF — or want to get rid of one that doesn’t belong? Pick the file and you’ll see every page as a thumbnail. Split the document into single pages, pull out the ranges you need or delete the extras. The document is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Files are processed right in your browser and never uploaded to a server. Open-source libraries

TL;DR. Pick a PDF up to 200 MB and one of three modes: every page as its own file (ZIP), ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10, or deleting pages by clicking thumbnails. Processing runs in your browser, with no sign-up.

How to split a PDF or delete pages

  1. Choose a PDF

Drop the file into the box or click “Choose a file”. Thumbnails of every page appear a moment later.

  2. Pick a mode

“Every page” splits everything apart. “By ranges” cuts out the parts you list. “Delete pages” gives you the same PDF minus the pages you mark.

  3. Select the pages

For ranges, type something like 1-3, 5, 8-10 — that makes three files, and the pages light up. To delete, click the thumbnails of the pages you don’t need.

  4. Download the result

Click the button below the settings. A single file downloads directly; several files can be saved one by one or as a ZIP.

Your document stays with you

To split a PDF, most online services first need the whole file on their server. If it holds a contract, a medical report or a bank statement, that is one more copy of your data with a company you don’t know. Here the document never leaves your device: pdf.js draws the thumbnails and pdf-lib builds the new files, both running inside your browser tab.

It’s easy to verify. Open developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac), go to the Network tab and run a split. You will only see the tool’s own files from our domain — no request carries the contents of your document.

How to delete pages from a PDF

Open the “Delete pages” tab and click the thumbnails of the pages you want gone: they turn grey and get a “removed” label. Click again to bring a page back. Above the grid you can see how many pages will remain. The rest go into a new file in their original order without recompression — text stays text and quality doesn’t change.

How to extract pages from a PDF by range

In the “By ranges” tab, list pages separated by commas: 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each part becomes its own file, with the page numbers in its name, for example contract-8-10.pdf. “8-” means from page 8 to the end. If you want one file built from different parts of the document, tick “Put the selected pages into one PDF”.

Pages are counted in the order they appear in the file, starting from the first — not by the numbers printed at the bottom. If you enter a page beyond the end of the document, the tool tells you right away how many pages it has.

What about password-protected PDFs

PDFs with an open password or editing restrictions are not processed, and we don’t remove passwords: you’ll see a clear message instead of an error. Open the document where you know the password, save an unprotected copy and split that one. Bookmarks and outlines from the source file are not carried over to the new PDFs.

Split PDF: frequently asked questions

Pick the file, open the “Delete pages” tab, click the thumbnail of the unwanted page and then “Delete pages”. You’ll download the same document without it. The original file on your device is not changed.

In the “By ranges” tab, enter the pages, for example 2-4, 7, and tick “Put the selected pages into one PDF”. Without the tick, each range becomes its own file.

“Every page” mode creates one PDF per page and packs them into a ZIP archive. The files are numbered so they stay in order in any folder.

The tool doesn’t open such files or remove passwords. Open the document in an app where you know the password, save an unprotected copy and split that.

No. Pages are copied into the new files without recompression: text stays selectable and images stay sharp.

One PDF at a time, up to 200 MB. There is no page limit, though very large documents are slower on a phone. Free and with no sign-up.
